GUI Thursday: Seamonkey - Mozilla suite

Fedora's default browser Firefox comes from the Mozilla Foundation. Unlike early releases of the Mozilla Application Suite (or "classic Mozilla"), it is a pure web browser. If you miss the bundled features of the Mozilla Suite, the Seamonkey package will give you what you want: web browser, e-mail and newsgroup client, address book, WYSIWYG page editor, IRC client, DOM inspector, and JavaScript debugger, all integrated into a single program.

Seamonkey is maintained by a dedicated group of Mozilla volunteers who incorporate code from the main Mozilla projects such as Firefox and Thunderbird. I do almost all of my browsing in Firefox, but my daughters use Seamonkey Composer to create personal web pages.

Installing from the command line: yum install seamonkey
Installing using the graphical installer: Not available in browse mode; use the Search or List tabs to install seamonkey
Menu location after installation: Applications > Internet > Seamonkey Mail and Seamonkey Web Browser
Command: /usr/bin/seamonkey

I have to say that as much as I have tried to migrate to Firefox, I still feel drawn to the all in one package of Seamonkey. And it just keeps getting better with every new version.

As an experienced Mozilla Suite user I latch right on to the Seamonkey project from day one, everything was familiar to me. The installer works great, updating takes just a few minutes and is no big deal for most linux users. I use it on a Windows laptop too, recommend it to friend often.
